Apple Watch Pro may support older bands but the fit may be an ‘issue’

The upcoming Apple Watch Pro may support older watch bands, as per the latest claim by tech journalist Mark Gurman but there is a catch to that claim too. In a post on Twitter, he further added that “maybe they won’t fit as well or look as seamless given the size of the new watch.”
Gurman’s claim comes after a rumour on Weibo by a leaker called “UnclePan” according to which the upcoming Pro model of the Apple Watch might not be compatible with the older watch bands. So, as per Gurman, the watch bands may still work with the Apple Watch Pro but the fit might not be as you want it to be.

Going by its track record, it does seem unlikely for Apple to introduce the element of incompatibility with older bands with the new Apple Watch. What seems likely, going by Gurman’s claim, is that Apple markets the Watch Pro as requiring new bands, but the old bands remain compatible with the device, though they may not fit as seamlessly as the new ones. A similar strategy has earlier been employed by the Cupertino-based tech giant with the 12.9-inch iPad Pro when it said that the older generation Magic Keyboard was compatible with the device and would work but may not precisely fit when closed.

And what of the compatibility of the Apple Watch Pro bands with the other Apple Watch models? We can’t expect Apple to be that ruthless, can we? But we have no verification about that possibility either.
The Apple Watch Pro is one of the major expected reveals at Apple’s ‘Far Out’ event which is to be held on September 7, along with the iPhone 14 series.
