Microsoft updates Xbox consoles with this new Discord feature: What is it

Microsoft has updated the Xbox consoles with a new communication feature that will allow users to play with their friends across multiple platforms and communities. The tech giant has updated its official blog post to reveal the new Xbox update that will enable the Discord Voice feature for the Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles. Earlier, in July, the company announced its partnership with Discord for the first time, which was done to “streamline the audio experience” for Xbox console users.

What is the Discord Voice feature?
Discord is a platform that allows users to communicate through private or public chats and is compatible with major operating systems and web browsers. The Discord Voice feature allows users to chat with other Discord members through voice channels or group calls directly from the console. This new feature will make it easier for users to connect with their friends across multiple platforms including — mobile, Xbox and PC.
For example, Xbox users will now be able to see the participants of the call and who is speaking even while playing on their consoles. Moreover, users will also be allowed to adjust the volume and switch between Discord Voice and Xbox game chat while playing their favourite games.

How to enable the Discord Voice chat feature
At first, Discord mobile app users need to link their Discord account to their Xbox account to enable the feature. Users who already have their accounts linked will not be considered. To get this feature all users will have to re-link their accounts. Only after that Xbox users can join any Discord voice channel or call and then transfer it to their consoles.
